Your wedding photos should not be an event that you stress over. Here are my top 5 posing tips and essentials that I share with all of my couples.
1. Practice Your Go To Smile
Practice a soft, natural smile that isn’t forced or stiff. Not all of the moments on your wedding day are going to be candid. You want a soft, natural smile that you can go to during moments like family or group portraits that don’t look forced.
2. Stand Up Straight
Practice standing up straight with your shoulders and necks back and your chin down and forward. Not only is this amazing for your posture. You will have a strong, beautiful stance for your portraits. Imagine there is a line of floss holding you up from your neck to your butt.

3. Relax Your Features
While you want to stand straight, you don’t want it to appear as if (pardon my french) you have a stick up your ass. Relax all of your features. Don’t smile too strong. Remember you want a soft, natural smile. Don’t be stiff. Relax your stance, your limps, and your fingers and toes. Unsure what to do with your hands? Brides hold the bouquet in one hand and your groom in the other. Grooms put one hand in your pant pocket with the thumb sticking out and use the other to hold your bride!

4. Movement
Every couple of seconds or clicks of the camera, take a moment to readjust yourself. Look your partner in the eyes, look down at their lips, and then look off to the side slightly. Move your hand towards your hair or to your partner’s hair. Dance and sway a little bit with your partner. Little moments like these produce some of the most gorgeous portraits.

5. RELAX
Lastly, the most important posing tip to get the most out of your photos is to RELAX AND HAVE FUN. Sometimes the inbetween, behind the scenes unposed moments are the most beautiful moments from the day. Simply relax and enjoy the moment with your new spouse and your photographer will capture the rest.
Be confident that your photographer knows all of the best poses and is skilled in directing and posing you. Let them do their job and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
